Vanguard Foundry Technical Services |
Facilities now available within the foundry have been bolstered by additional CAD and solidification modelling software. Vanguard Foundry can now receive CAD data from engineers, model the founding characteristics and agree necessary modifications to designs before customers waste time and money on equipment only to find modifications are required at a later date.
This facility will enable customers to get product to market faster and with confidence of a right first time approach. |
Vanguard Foundry - Casting Manufacture |
Castings are produced by Airset Floor Moulding or Machine Moulded in Green Sand using a Heinrich Wagner HSP-2D high pressure moulding machine utilising the Seiatsu Air Flow Squeeze System, this is the latest technology currently available.
All British Standard grades of Spheroidal Graphite iron are produced as cast, thereby ensuring maximum dimensional consistency. Components are also manufactured from Austempered Ductile Iron, which is used in gears, crankshafts and plough shares. Ni Resist and SiMo Alloy Iron is used in high temperature applications such as turbine housings, exhaust manifolds etc.
We can undertake 1 off prototypes, low to medium volumes (2000pa) in weights from 0.5 to 1000kgs.
Applications for castings include: Agricultural, Automotive, Civil Engineering, Defence, General Engineering, Highways, Machine Tools, Marine Engineering, Mining and Railways. |
Vanguard Foundry - Pattern Making |
Our comprehensive in-house & sub contract pattern making facilities can:
- work from CAD Data, 2 Dimensional drawings or samples
- produce new resin equipment
- re-plate tooling previously used by high volume foundries
- routinely maintain Customers pattern equipment
Vanguard Foundry - Prototyping |
From receipt of CAD data, samples can be provided with a full dimensional and material report in 2-3 weeks. If a 2D drawing or a sample are the only available forms of information, we can submit castings in 3-4 weeks along with any relevant documentation |
Vanguard Foundry - Core Making |
Our onsite Core Making facility compliments the Pattern and Casting departments, to enable fast turnaround times.
Using our two Omega and two Loramendi core machines with the addition of a gassing cabinet, cores can be produced from only a few grams to 20Kg in weight and from a wide variety of core box types, wood and resin, Aluminum or Cast Iron.
Certain applications call for Alkaline Phelonic Airset Cores, which are also produced internally.

Vanguard Foundry - Quality |
We are committed to ISO 9001-2000 as the minimum standard on which to base a programme of continuous improvement. This will ensure we provide first class products which adhere to our customer's quality & technical specifications. “Stringent Quality Control procedures are fully implemented throughout all stages of production.”
Metal Control: monitored by continual metallurgical analysis in our Spectrograph Laboratory plus microscopic examination of structures and mechanical properties from test bars.
Control of Sand: through constant production sampling and laboratory testing.
Conformity of Products: ensured by Foundry Patrol Inspection. 100% Visual First Line Inspection and Final Inspection through to dimensional checking of castings & equipment. |
